UN Day Celebration -2017

United Nations Day was founded on October 24, 1945 and every year we celebrate the anniversary of this outstanding organization on 24th October. It has begun as an international peace keeping organization. But its role has since then grown to include protecting human rights, promoting social and economic development and providing aid around the world for the needy, in cases of natural calamities, famines and at times of armed conflicts.

Celebrating UN Day gives us an opportunity to know more about this great organization and the profound differences it makes in peoples’ life all over the world.

UN Day Activities

The students and the faculty of DARUL HUDA ISLAMIC SCHOOL, Al Ain, observed the UN DAY on October 24, 2017, with a special assembly and a range of activities.

Our principal in his brief address, talked about the values enshrined in the UN charter and reiterated the need for our commitment to uphold those precious values.

Haseena, a student of class X A gave an enlightened speech on United Nations’ role in solving the pressing problems of economic, social and humanitarian nature encountered by the people around the world.

This was followed by a general quiz about the United Nations Organization in which several students actively participated. It served to test and update the students’ knowledge and raise their awareness about the role of the UN.

The main attraction of the event was the tableau staged by the senior students of X A and XII Sci.  It successfully showcased some of the atrocities suffered by the people in today’s world and shed light on the actions by the UN to alleviate human sufferings. The tableau vividly portrayed the sufferings of the Rohingya migrants displaced from their country and it touched the hearts of many.

Children are always said to be future of the world.  Much of the world is currently in poverty, but children are suffering the worst.  The UN can do lot to curb the atrocities faced by the people and lessen their sufferings to some extent. The scenes enacted by the students portrayed the role of the UN in taking up challenges to alleviate the sufferings of the such misfortunate people successfully.
